We have a class just for you!

St. Matthew's Church offers Sunday School classes for people of all ages, including: 

  • Nursery  
  • Busy Bee Kindergarden   
  • Primaries  
  • Loyal to Jesus Juniors  
  • D.O.T.S. (5th - 8th grade)
  • Thunder and Lightning (9th - 12th grade)  
  • Firm Believers in Christ (post high)
  • Young Adult 
  • Knights of the Round Table (adult)
  • Conference Room Class (adult) 
  • Combined Adult Class (adult)

Sunday School opening exercises of hymns, announcements, and devotions begin at 9:45 am. Regular classes begin at 10:00 am.

St. Matthew's Church offers Bible Study classes for adults every Wednesday night following at light dinner at 6:00



Bible

Board of Christian Education (BOCE): The BOCE consists of six elected members of our congregation, as well as a representative from the consistory, women's fellowship, brotherhood, senior youth, and the CIA.  We oversee all realms of education in the church - sunday school, all youth fellowship groups, VBS, children's church, confirmation, and music education.  We also host our two largest outreach events - the Fall Festival and the Easter Egg Hunt.

JANUARY: Scheduling meeting to discuss starting a children’s choir ministry during opening before Sunday school with choir master Ricky Sharp.

FEBURARY: Chili cook-off for proceeds to go toward Children’s Choir Ministry, a new series of the Pastors Bible Study video begins.

MARCH: New children’s workshop bulletins available with the regular Sunday bulletins.

APRIL: Board hosted a hotdog lunch after the Easter Egg Hunt. Church members donated Easter candy and rolled coins for the Easter eggs for hunting. Also, discussed was approval from the board to pay half of the tuition for any child that would like to go to John’s River Camp.

MAY: Discussing Sunday school Rally. Class with the largest percentage of visitors was to get a party (pizza, ice cream) or their choice. Goal is to have 100 in attendance.

JUNE: VBS was held June 10th – 14th (6:30 pm – 8:30pm)

JULY: Two new Board of Christian Education members needed. Discussed the ages of all children who wish to participate in the Kinder/Children’s Church. Also, needing volunteer’s for the Kinder/Children’s Church.

AUGUST: Sunday school Teacher Appreciation observed. Bible’s given out to rising first graders.

SEPTEMBER: Discussed having scavenger hunt on Saturday, September 8th at John’s River Camp as an activity for all kids attending.

OCTOBER:  Outing to Billy Graham Library and US National Whitewater Center on October 13th.  Fall Festival October 27th with hotdog dinner and trick or truck and other special activities.

NOVEMBER:  November 4th, 2007 Confirmands confirmed, looking ahead for the new 2008 class.  There will be a total of 8 new confirmands for 2008.

DECEMBER:   Church-wide Christmas Program – December 16th with 200 treat bags prepared and also prepared refreshments during the Christmas program.  Left over bags was handed out to shut-ins.  Two new board members joined, Rita Beard and Vick Herman.
